bulletsFiji Windjammer Barefoot

Fiji Windjammer Barefoot is an award winning family based company who have been operating in Fiji since 1996. We offer a range of cruises to the Yasawa Islands from Denarau Marina, Nadi.

To minimise the impact of tourism on the local island culture, we choose to visit local villages - not stay in them. Our guests stay in traditional bures built by local villagers, at a dedicated lodge on our own secluded island.

Captain Cook Cruises is Fiji Windjammer Barefoot's booking agent and Australian representative.

In 1986 a new vessel was commissioned by the Trust and in 1997 “Spirit of Adventure” was sold to Fiji Windjammer Barefoot.

Of all the Fiji islands the Yasawa (pronounced Yah-sow-wah) Group is the most archetypically `South Pacific'.

There are about 20 islands of volcanic origin which lie in a chain just off the northwest coast of Viti Levu.

The island chain begins about 40 kilometres northwest of Lautoka and stretch for approximately 80 kilometres.

Drawaqa Barefoot Lodge Map

The Barefoot Lodge is located on Drawaqa Island (GPS location between 17.10.76S – 17.09.87S and 177.11.42E – 177.11.52E).

Drawaqa (pronounced Dra-wan-ga) is a volcanic Island composed of granite and volcanic extrusion with an overlay of accumulated sand.

It is a small island lying immediately south of Naviti Island and north of Nanuya Balalavu Islands in the Yasawa chain of islands northwest of the main island.

The Drawaqa Island walking trail offers stunning views of the surrounding coral reefs. It is a mildly elevated climb and trek along the western edge of the island and in some areas follows goat tracks cut into the hillside.

There is no electricity in the bures.
